Food waste in the US worth more than offshore drilling

Very interesting link sent to me by a friend in 'New Scientist'.  It's worrying how much food waste costs - especially when you consider the attention paid to offshore drilling at the moment - not just in absolute monetery terms but in environmental terms, not to mention the financial and human cost imposed on the third world.
